Hitchen, Anne Roberta
Anne Roberta Hitchen, 91, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Des Moines, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Des Moines. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service.
Annie was born April 2, 1921, to the late Walter and Lily Hitchen in Kewanee, Ill. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. She worked for over 30 years as a lab technician for the Pediatric Medical Office of Doctors Gangeness, Corn and Talcott, where she was beloved by many of her young patients. Annie also taught Sunday school at St. Luke's Episcopal Church for over 40 years.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ethel, and her husband, Robert Hawkinson; sister, Frances, and her husband, Bob Badgley; and brother, Walter Hitchen Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Ross of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Ellen Hitchen of Des Moines; and 11 nieces and nephews and their families, including the Rev. Marcus (Marilyn) and Marshal Badgley, John (Kathy) and Jim (Carol) Hitchen, Judy Schwabauer, Mary Kay Hubbell, David Hawkinson, Julie (Tony) Erceg and Jeff (Dianna), Bill (Cathy) and Dr. Steve (Francine) Thompson.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
Iles Funeral Homes-Dunn's Chapel, Des Moines, is handling arrangements.
