NFL Network to spotlight Kurt Warner, former Hawkeyes
May. 20, 2010 12:40 pm
NFL Network will feature full Iowa flavor on Friday in its Arena Football broadcast of the Arizona Rattlers at Iowa Barnstormers.
The team will honor Cedar Rapids native Kurt Warner and induct him into its inaugural Hall of Fame Class. The Barnstormers will retire his No. 13 jersey in an on-field ceremony.
NFL Network will employ Warner as a guest analyst during the game from Wells Fargo Arena.
“I'm honored to be the first player inducted into the Barnstormers Hall of Fame and am looking forward to being a guest analyst for the game,” Warner said. “Having experienced success in both the AFL and NFL, I know that I'll be able to add a great deal of insight as a member of the broadcasting team for this game.”
“The entire league is excited about Kurt Warner's visit to Iowa this weekend,” said AFL Commissioner Jerry Kurz. “Kurt's legacy and long lasting impact on arena football is unparalleled.”
Warner is a two-time NFL MVP and three times led teams to the Super Bowl. He owns the three highest passing games in Super Bowl history. The daily NFL Network news show "Total Access" will have an interview with Warner as well.
Former Iowa quarterback and Iowa City native Paul Burmeister will call the game for the NFL Network. Former Iowa player Anthony Herron will serve as a sideline reporter. The game starts at 7 p.m.
