Goodrum with inside-the-parker in Kernels win

BURLINGTON - Niko Goodrum's inside-the-park home run highlighted the Cedar Rapids Kernels' 3-2 win over the Burlington Bees on Thursday night at Community Field.
Goodrum drove a pitch to right-center in the fourth inning, with Burlington center fielder diving for it and deflecting it away. Goodrum circled the bases for his second homer of the season.
Cedar Rapids (66-41 overall) scored twice more in the inning on a Joel Licon RBI single and fielding error. Newcomer Brandon Bixler (1-0) got the pitching victory despite giving up a run in 1 2/3 innings.
Fellow newcomer Brian Gilbert threw the final two innings for his third save. The teams complete their four-game series Friday night at 6:35.
