A proposal to ban diving from bridges will get a public hearing next week, Linn County supervisors decided Wednesday morning.
The hearing for the proposed ordinance will be part of next week's formal supervisors' session, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m in the board room at Linn County West in Westdale Mall.
The ordinance would also give county deputies authority to ticket people swimming in posted n0-swimming areas.
Sheriff Brian Gardner requested the new rules after an increase in youths jumping into rivers from publicly-owned structures, often posting video of their exploits online.
