Hoffman, Kenneth Wesley
Kenneth Wesley Hoffman, 82 of Marion, formerly of Mount Vernon, died Thursday, April 22, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids from complications due to cancer. Kenny's funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, by Pastor Thomas Mattson. Friends may call Sunday from 2 until 6 p.m. at the church. Burial: Lisbon Cemetery, with military honors.
Surviving Ken are his family: his wife, Patricia; son, Craig, wife Lana, Mount Vernon; two daughters, Denise, husband Steve Crock, Tipton, and Diane, husband Tom Poduska, Mechanicsville; sister Marilyn, husband Bernard Tiedeman, Lisbon; sisters-in-law, Betty Hoffman, Tipton, and Nola, husband Wilbert Wenndt, Lowden; his mother-in-law, Norma Knapp, Marion; and stepchildren, Randy Hoffman, Central City, Brett Hoffman, Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Rhonda and husband Rex Heasty, Marion. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Christopher, Carissa, Ann, Amy, Brian, Brad, Josh, Matt, Jeremy, Michael, Kirsten, Tara, Nichole, J.D., Ashley, Jessica, Jenna and Jacob; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Kenneth in death were his parents, Harold “Glenn” and Anna (Kadera) Hoffman; wife of 45 years, Marie; and a brother, Harold J. Hoffman.
Kenneth was born Sept., 27, 1927, on the family farm near Lisbon. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1948. He served honorably in the United States Navy as a Seabee and was a member of the Lisbon American Legion Cyclops Post 109. He married Marie Esbaum in 1952. She passed away in 1997. Kenneth married Patricia Hoffman on Oct. 20, 2004, in Branson, Mo. He was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Lisbon United Methodist Church.
Kenneth was a kind and gentle man with a great grin. Kenneth loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He will be loved and missed by his family and all who knew him.
