Fangmann, Louis H.
Louis H. Fangmann, 95, of 920 Third Ave. SE, Cascade, IA, died Friday, July 23, 2010 at 3 a.m. at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of Louis may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a wake service will be held at 5 p.m.
Services for Louis will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.
Louis was born April 7, 1915 in New Vienna, Iowa, son of Louis and Josephine (Busse) Fangmann Sr. He received his education in the New Vienna area schools. On May 20, 1941 he was united in marriage to Jeanette Smith at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Worthington, Iowa. The couple farmed in the rural Cascade area until their retirement.
He was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Fangmann of Cascade, Iowa; seven children, Karen (Carl) Kelchen of Cascade, Iowa, Thomas (Linda) Fangmann of Ely, Iowa, Carol Jean (James) Triplett of Bull Shoals, Ark., Larry (Vicki) Fangmann of Cascade, Iowa, Mary Jo (Joseph) Wagner of Anamosa, Iowa, Lee Fangmann of Cascade, Iowa, Joannie Knapp of Dubuque, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jim Fangmann in April 1958; and three sisters, Loretta Fangmann, Alberta McBride and Theresa Dolan.
