Ruth Elizabeth Waddington, 89, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Jan. 27, 2017, at Living Center East, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Pastor Dave King will officiate. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Ruth was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin and Hazel (Brainard) Knuppe. In 1945, she married Robert Waddington in Cedar Rapids. Ruth helped her husband, Robert, deliver feed for Vigortone for 20 years. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family. When she wasn't watching the Chicago Cubs or the Atlanta Braves, she enjoyed cleaning walnuts, cooking and gardening.
Ruth is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Knuppe of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, John (Karie) Knuppe of Fort Worth, Texas, and Kristen (Scott) Dalecky, Robert (Kim) Knuppe and Bryon (Julie) Knuppe, all of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren, Alex and Hannah of Fort Worth, Texas, Brandon (Whitney), Kaitlyn (Herve), Keith, Joey, Ashlie, Derik and Maddie, all of Cedar Rapids; great-great-grandchildren, Aleena, Leeanna and Amora, all of Fort Worth, Texas, and Vincent, Drea and Kaisen, all of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Rita Sieverson of Waukon, Iowa, Hazel (Joe) Kout of Hazleton, Iowa, Janice Theilen of Dubuque, Iowa, and Roger Knapp of Thailand; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; son, Keith Knuppe; two brothers; and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
