Maxine Elaine Burck of Millersburg, formerly of Williamsburg, was born Feb. 19, 1943, in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Richmond) Johnson. She attended school in Grinnell and North Mahaska. On Oct. 11, 1980, Maxine was united in marriage to Larry Ralph Burck at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millersburg. Maxine worked for the U.S. Post Office from 1966 to 1980, was secretary for Burck Tire Co. and worked as a housekeeper in the burn unit at the University of Iowa Hospitals for 19 years. She was a volunteer for the Millersburg QRS, congregate meals and Hospice of Compassion. Maxine was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. She enjoyed going to casinos and spending time with her family. Maxine died Saturday, June 30, 2018, at The Bird House Hospice of Johnson County at the age of 75 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Deb Miller of Deep River and Shelly Reiten of North Liberty; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents; husband, Larry; two brothers, Gerald and Gayle Johnson; and three sisters, Delores Fetchick, Roberta Knapp and Carole Rowley.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
