Minney, William 'Bill' Carl
William “Bill” Carl Minney, 86, of Hiawatha, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha by the Rev. Daniel Krueger. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids and at the church after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Douglas (Joan) Minney, Diane Minney and Patricia (Alan) Hanson, stepdaughter, Linda (Tom) McGrath; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two wives, Ruth Grieff in 1946 and June Knapp in 1978.
William was born June 6, 1923, the son of Fred and Olive (Rickels) Minney, in Monticello, Iowa. On March 27, 1982, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Oakes, Waterloo. William worked for Gerber Plumbing for 40 years, retiring in 1985. William enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hiawatha.
Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church or the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in William's memory.
