LUELLA DAVIS Keota Luella Elizabeth Davis, 96, of Keota, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at her son's home in Keota, surrounded by family. Luella was born Nov. 11, 1918, in Deer Creek Township, Tazewell County, Ill., to Karl and Freda (Knapp) Lay, and received her education in country school. She moved to Donnellson, Iowa, with her family and married Donald Davis in Kahoka, Mo., on March 12, 1961. Following marriage, the couple lived in Keota, where Luella cleaned the Post Office for many years. She also mowed lawns and took in laundry for several people. Luella enjoyed garden-ing, flowers, cooking and her grandchildren. Survivors include her son, Larry (Kathy) Davis of Keota; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald, in 1983; grandson, Eric Davis; two brothers, Clifford and Roy Lay; and four sisters, Alice Lay, Florence Lay, Anna McVay and Clara Ross. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Keota Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota. A general memorial fund has been established.
