Etzel, Lawrence Edward
Lawrence Edward Etzel, 84, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 1, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Marion, followed by a graveside service at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, by the Rev. Curt Moermond.
Survivors include his daughters, LaRee (Jason) Stann of Ankeny and Karen, Kathy, Mary Kay and Janine; son, Danny; brother, Albert Etzel of Marion; sister, Ester (Marvin) Knapp of Central City; and many grandchildren, including Amber and Ashley.
Larry was born June 4, 1928, in Marion, the son of Harley and Elizabeth (Hess) Etzel. He graduated from Marion High School in 1947. Larry worked as a welder for Rockwell Collins for over 30 years. He was granted a AAA rating by the American Welding Society in 1988. Larry was a private pilot and member of the Rockwell Flying Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
