Kernels finally lose to Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. - The streak is over.

Shawn Dunkierk had a run-scoring single with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Beloit Snappers a 7-6 win Saturday afternoon over the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Pohlmah Field. It's the first loss this Midwest League season in eight games against Beloit for the Kernels (26-17).

Cedar Rapids scored three times in the ninth inning to tie things at 6-6. Zack Larson had a two-run single in the frame, with Brett Doe tying it with a sacrifice fly.

Beloit got four consecutive one-out singles in the 10th for the win. Michael Cederoth (1-4) took the loss.

Doe, Blake Schmit and Trey Vavra had two hits each for the Kernels, with Schmit hitting his first home run.
