On July 7, 2006, John Lackey (Cedar Rapids Kernels - 2000) pitched a complete game one hitter to help the Angels defeat the Athletics 3-0. Lackey struck out 10 batters in the win. He retired 27 straight batters following a Mark Kotsay leadoff double.
One year later to the date on July 7, 2007, Lackey struckout 11 batters in eight innings of work as the Angels defeated the Yankees 2-1 in 13 innings.
John Lackey had compiled a record of 102-71 with a 3.81 ERA entering the 2010 season. He signed a free agent contract with the Boston Red Sox this past offseason.
John Lackey posted a 3-2 record with a 2.08 ERA in five starts with the 2000 Cedar Rapids Kernels. The Kernels finished in 13th place with a record of 53-86 under managers Mitch Seone and Tyrone Boykin.
