Betty Ilene Daubenmier, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 5, 2017, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 9, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at the Chapel of Memories Stateroom. Burial will follow the service at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Betty was born Dec. 31, 1927, in Waubeek, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Gertrude (Glass) Knapp. She attended Central City High School. On Oct. 18, 1946, she married Robert Daubenmier. Betty was a homemaker and later a sales associate at Killians Department Store. She loved to garden and tend to her flowers. She most enjoyed the time spent with her beloved family and friends. Betty was a devoted and wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, son, Steven Daubenmier of Waukesha, Wis.; and daughters, Vicki (Steve) Archibald of Cedar Rapids and Debbie (Larry) Ingels of Loveland, Colo.; grandchildren, Heather (John) Mickol of Merton, Wis., Alison (Ryan) Hunter of Woodbury, Minn., Staci (Brad) Bailey of O'Fallon, Mo., Carrie (Mark) Thrasher of Wildwood, Mo., Rob (Chelsea) Archibald of Hiawatha, Kacie (Andy) Neely of Loveland, Adam Ingels of Denver, Colo., and Kara (Zach) Billings of Loveland; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Violet Brislawn and Virginia Howe, both of Marion; and a brother-in-law, Ted Schutt of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert, in 2014; and four siblings, Howard Knapp, Marvin Knapp, Garnet Wilcox and Charlotte Schutt.
The family would like to thank all the residents and staff from the Ridge View Assisted Living Community for their love and support as well as the staff at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for the tender care given to Betty and family.
A memorial in Betty's name may be directed to Mercy of Hospice.
