Pair of pitcher moves for Kernels
CEDAR RAPIDS - The parent Minnesota Twins announced Tuesday that they have released relief pitcher Brandon Bixler from the Cedar Rapids Kernels roster and placed pitcher Zack Tillery on the seven-day disabled list with a left ankle sprain.
No corresponding moves were announced, meaning the Cedar Rapids roster sits at 23 active players, two below maximum. The Kernels play Wednesday night at 6:35 at home against Burlington.
Bixler pitched all of last season with the Kernels but spent the majority of this season on the disabled list with a broken right wrist. Since being activated from the DL June 24, he was 1-1 with a 6.30 earned run average in six appearances.
Tillery is 5-4 with a save and 2.67 ERA. He has allowed just 48 hits in 64 innings.
