C.R.’s Christensen singles in big league spring training game
Former Cedar Rapids Washington prep Chad Christensen got into his first major league spring training game Sunday for the Minnesota Twins and singled in his only at-bat of a 6-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Fla.
Christensen, who played last season for the Cedar Rapids Kernels, entered the game as a defensive replacement for former Kernel Adam Brett Walker in right field in the bottom of the seventh inning.
In the top of the ninth, he singled up the middle against fellow minor leaguer Branden Kline. Christensen is expected to begin this season at high-Class A Fort Myers.
