GENEVA, Ill. — Eduardo Del Rosario just has something about the Kane County Cougars. He loves to shut them out.
The right-handed Cedar Rapids Kernels pitcher threw five shutout innings for a 2-0 victory over the Cougars. Del Rosario (4-2) has not allowed a run to Kane County in three Midwest League starts this season, covering 16 innings.
Williams Ramirez and Nathan McIver had two shutout innings apiece to close out the shutout. McIver picked up the save.
A two-out fielding error with the bases loaded on a ball Luis Arraez hit to left field provided Cedar Rapids (62-53, 26-20 second half) with both of its runs. The teams play again Friday night.
