Jul. 20, 2013 2:36 pm
The parent Minnesota Twins announced Saturday that first baseman Mike Gonzales has been added to the Cedar Rapids Kernels' active roster.
Gonzales, 25, began this season with high-Class A Fort Myers, where he .238 with four home runs and 15 RBIs in 18 games. An injury kept him out for about three months, and he played five games rehabbing with the Gulf Coast League Twins before being assigned to Cedar Rapids.
Gonzales, a 6-foot-6 left-handed hitter, was a ninth-round draft pick of the Twins in 2008 out of Diablo Valley Junior College in California. Coming into this season, he was a career .275 hitter in 379 minor-league games.
The Kernels have a full 25 active players on their roster.
