Janet M. Humble, 78, of Luzerne, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care in Belle Plaine. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, officiated by Chaplain Mike Patterson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service, beginning at 1 p.m. at the chapel. Following the graveside service, there will be a luncheon at the Cedar Memorial Family Center.
Janet was born on June 20, 1939, to David Merle and Helen (Manley) Clark in Fairfield, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Samuel G. Humble on Aug. 4, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Janet devoted her life to her family and held many interests such as bowling, baking, gardening and quilting.
Janet is survived by her children, Wendy (Jim) Sherrill of Van Horne, Iowa, Karen (Jim) Kamp of Flower Mound, Texas; Samuel (Lana) Humble of Circle Pines, Minn., and Mary (Tom) Spore of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sue (Gary) Zigler and Marilyn Martin; sisters-in-law, Minnie (Tom) Holland, Faye Remington, Gloria Fowler and Beverly Leinart; and a brother-in-law, George Humble.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Samuel Humble; her parents; a granddaughter, Angela Sherrill; and a great-granddaughter, Grace Benfer.
The family would like to extend a special appreciation and heartfelt thanks for the care given by Essence of Life Hospice (Denise and Babette) to Sam and Janet Humble for the compassionate care given to them and their family.
