Shirley Katherine Knapp, 86, passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at her home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. Inurnment will be at a later date at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Paul; children, Steve (Martha E.) Knapp of Williamsburg, Laura (Roger) Eller of Cedar Rapids and Martha Knapp of Marion; grandchildren, Allen and Megan (Nick Gluba) Knapp, Maxwell, Valerie and Dylan Eller, Hanna (Drew) Wood and Aaron Petsel; great-grandchild, Auliver Wood; and brother, John (Jeannine) Heldt of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Mary Heldt.
Shirley was born July 30, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John W. and Elsie A. (Chadek) Heldt. She graduated from Mount Mercy Academy. Shirley married Paul W. Knapp on May 15, 1948, in Cedar Rapids. She worked as a bookkeeper for Taylor Music Company, McNeal Tool and Great Plains Gas Company, from where she retired from in 1994. Shirley was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion.
