DAVENPORT - The Quad Cities River Bandits racked up 17 hits and bashed the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 14-5, Monday afternoon at Modern Woodmen Park in the rubber game of their three-game series.
Quad Cities knocked out Kernels starting pitcher Keaton Steele in the third inning by sending 11 men to the plate and scoring five runs. Steele was activated from the disabled list earlier Monday.
Ryan Bottger and Alex Bregman had three hits apiece for the River Bandits (60-33). Tanner English homered for Cedar Rapids (54-41).
The Kernels begin a homestand Tuesday night at 6:35 against Wisconsin.
