On May 15, 2009, Erick Aybar (Cedar Rapids Kernels - 2003) went 3-5 with a double, triple and a HR in the Angels 10-8 loss to the Rangers. Aybar finished the game with two runs and 2 RBI.
Aybar hit .308 with six HR, ten triples, 57 RBI and stole 32 bases in 125 games for the 2003 Cedar Rapids Kernels. The team finished in 10th place at 66-72 under manager Todd Claus.
Erick Aybar is currently the starting shortstop for the Angels.
