Cedar Rapids Kernels lose matinee at Burlington

BURLINGTON - Brandon Sanger's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning broke a 1-1 tie, as the Burlington Bees knocked off the Cedar Rapids, 5-1, in a Midwest League matinee Tuesday at Community Field.
Hutton Moyer tripled to center field off starting and losing pitcher Randy LeBlanc (1-2). After a groundout, Sanger came through with a hit to left.
Burlington (6-6) added three insurance runs in the eighth against reliever Logan Lombana. The Kernels dropped to 8-5.
Cedar Rapids' lone run came in the sixth. Bryant Hayman and Manuel Guzman singled with one out, and Rafael Valera doubled with two outs. The Kernels had just one hit in five innings against Burlington starting pitcher Jaime Barria.
LeBlanc allowed just four hits and one earned run in seven innings. The teams play again Wednesday night at 6:35.
