Cedar Rapids Superintendent Dave Benson will name the district's enrollment study committee members at Monday night's school board meeting.
This committee, comprised of parents, teachers, administrators and community members, will evaluate the findings of the enrollment and facility studies, ultimately making recommendations to administrators that will determine the future of district facilities.
Twenty-four individuals will serve on the committee.
The committee will be supported by five district employees, as well as George Kanz and Rob Schwarz, who led the facility and enrollment studies respectively. Julie Grotewold, from Grant Wood Area Education Agency, will be the committee's facilitator.
The committee's first meeting will be held in August.
The board meeting will begin at 5 p.m. with a public hearing regarding the revised 2011-12 school year calendar.
This calendar was first approved by board members in August 2010. The Iowa Department of Education signed off on it in September 2010.
Inclement weather, however, has the potential to disrupt the previously schedule staff in-service days in January and February. To avoid this, board members will be asked to approve a revised calendar, which adds the two in-service days to the end of the school year in case those dates are needed for snow make-up dates.
The 2011-12 school year will begin on Aug. 23 for most of the district's schools. Taylor and Polk elementary students return to school Thursday.
The school board meeting will be held in the board room, room 305, at the Educational Service Center @ Kingston.
