7th-inning rally lifts Beloit past Cedar Rapids Kernels, 8-1

BELOIT, Wis. — The Beloit Snappers scored seven times in the bottom of the seventh inning to snap a tie and beat the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 8-1, Sunday night at Pohlman Field.
It was the rubber game of their three-game series. Cedar Rapids returns home to host Wisconsin at 5:05 Monday afternoon.
Dereck Rodriguez dropped to 1-10 despite pitching very well until the seventh. He retired the first 11 batters he faced, and ended up striking out 10 in 6 1/3 innings, allowing just four hits and a pair of walks, charged with four runs.
Williams Ramirez finally got out of the seventh but not until giving up four runs himself. Edwin Diaz had a two-run double, Skye Bolt a two-run single and Trent Gilbert a two-run single.
C.R.'s only run came in the second on a J.J. Fernandez and Rainis Silva RBI single.
