Busch, Carl T.
Carl T. Busch, 88, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at his home in Blairstown. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 18, at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown, with Pastor Mike Musick officiating. Interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Friends may call at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Carl was born July 19, 1922, in Mechanicsville, to Charles and Zilla (Gunn) Busch. Carl graduated from Martelle High School in 1940. On Feb. 25, 1951, he was united in marriage to Mildred Danker at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. Carl and Mildred farmed and raised cattle in the Blairstown area their entire married life.
Carl was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, a 65-year board member of the Coon Creek Telephone Co. and a member of the Keystone Turners. In 1953, Carl was the first state champion One Row Corn Picker and finished third that same year in national competition.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Blairstown; his sons, Steven and Ronald Busch, both of Blairstown; four grandchildren, Andrea (James) Remington and Elizabeth Busch, all of Cedar Rapids, Jacob Busch of Newhall and Christopher (Amanda) Busch of Marengo; three great-grandchildren, Alexandria Remington, Ethan and Emry Busch; and his brother, Arthur Busch of Omaha, Neb.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Dona Conley.
Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown in charge of arrangements.
