CLINTON - Nick Wells and Osmer Morales combined on a five-hitter to help the Clinton LumberKings knock off the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 5-1, Friday night.
Starter Wells gave up just four hits and an unearned run in six innings to pick up his first win of the Midwest League season. Morales got the save with three innings of one-hit shutout ball.
LaMonte Wade had two of C.R.'s hits to increase his batting average to .385.
Braden Bishop hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning for Clinton (9-5) and drove in three runs. The Kernels are 9-6.
The teams play a double-header Saturday beginning at 5.
