Update: The original owner of the injured dog has been located. They gave the dog away to the currently unnamed individual(s) that allegedly threw the dog out the window. The dog is still under evaluation at the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center, but is doing well and should be up for adoption soon.
CORALVILLE - A black and white terrier is resting with some bumps and bruises and a few scratches in the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center and Care Center Shelter today. His trip to the shelter may have started when he was thrown from a truck yesterday.
Officers were alerted Thursday afternoon when witness called in. They say they saw a dog thrown from a white pick-up truck that was moving on highway 965 near Oakdale Boulevard. A motorist found the dog shortly after it happened and held it until animal control officers arrived.
Police are still looking for anyone with information about the person driving the truck. They're not sure if the terrier was thrown from the truck or if he jumped out the window.
Police Chief Barry Bedford says officers want the driver to know they will not be charged with anything if the dog did jump out.
