Jun. 27, 2016 4:46 pm
IOWA CITY - Iowa City Animal Services officials say they are seeking information about the vaccination history of a dog involved in a biting incident last week.
Officials said a middle-aged male bicyclist was bitten on the ankle by a dog last Thursday near Rita's Ranch Dog Park on Scott Boulevard, according to a media release. Chad Mason, an Animal Services assistant, said he has not seen photos of the injury or spoken to the victim to determine the severity of the bite. He said the victim has been treated with antibiotics.
The dog is medium- to large-sized and is orange and white in color with short hair. The dog was being walked on a leash with another dog when the incident took place, officials said.
Animal Services officials said they would like to know if the dog has been vaccinated for rabies. Anyone with information about the dog or its owner is asked to call Animal Services at (319) 356-5295, ext. 7, or the Iowa City Police Department at (319) 356-6800.
