CEDAR RAPIDS - The Xavier boys' and girls' basketball teams start the 2018 portions of the 2017-18 season in good shape.

The defending state champion boys' are ranked fourth in Class 3A and stand 4-2 - after a 3-0 start - and host Cedar Rapids Prairie on Friday.

The girls' team stands 6-4 and is ranked 11th in Class 4A. The Saints have won three of their last four games and play at Prairie Friday.

Both games tipoff around 7:30 p.m.
