Judge Michael O. Carpenter, Ottumwa, was appointed to the Iowa District Court in 2023.
He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1999, a
masters’ degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 2001, and his law degree from the
University of Iowa College of Law in 2004. He was previously employed as a partner in the
law firm of Gaumer, Emanuel, Carpenter & Goldsmith, P.C. Judge Carpenter is married
and has two children.
