Iowa's Ramos grinds out another win

Mar. 21, 2014 11:26 am
OKLAHOMA CITY - University of Iowa senior Tony Ramos marched into the national semifinals after a another close decision.
The third-seeded Hawkeye 133-pounder defeated Lehigh's Mason Beckman, 3-1, in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships on Friday at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. It was his third two-point victory of the tournament.
The pair exchanged escapes before Ramos scored a takedown on the edge of the mat with 28 seconds remaining. He earned his third straight All-American finish, placing third in 2012 and second last year. Ramos (30-2) has to overcome a familiar foe to return to the finals. He takes on Edinboro's A.J. Schopp, who beat Ramos, 3-2, in December.
"I'm excited," Ramos said about the rematch. "I can't wait. I've got to get revenge there. I let him get away."
