Pinstripe Bowl: Early Iowa State notes, fan videos
Dec. 30, 2011 10:51 am
Hundreds of Iowa State fans arrived outside of Yankee Stadium this morning more than five hours before kickoff for today's Pinstripe Bowl. I talked to several in the parking lots and most were in mid-October tailgating form.
Iowa State sold more than 5,000 tickets to the game and thousands more purchased them from the bowl. Rutgers has sold around 13,000 tickets to the game.
The temperature here is perfect with a high of 52 expected this afternoon. If they have this bowl game here for the next 20 years, it won't have a late December football atmosphere like this one. The press box here is open, which makes me even more grateful for the beautiful weather.
An early note: if the Armed Forces Bowl featuring BYU-Tulsa goes long, the Iowa State-Rutgers game will start on ESPN News before moving back to ESPN. The same holds true for other bowl games today, including the Insight Bowl featuring Iowa-Oklahoma.
Here are some fan videos taken outside Yankee Stadium this morning:
