Linn County's proposed new supervisors' districts sailed through their final public hearing Monday evening, but redistricting commissioners may still have some work to do.
The Center Point City Council is still considering the proposed election precincts and may request the city be placed in its a precinct separate from surrounding Washington Township, Eric Loecher, election systems administrator in the county auditor's office, told redistricting commissioners during the 10-minute public hearing.
The Center Point council will act on that proposal Wednesday.
Loecher said that if Center Point requests its own precinct the proposed new precincts will be redrawn, possibly prolonging the process by a few weeks.
As currently drawn, the new map would combine Bertram and Monroe Township west of Highway 13, eliminating one precinct.
The new district map now goes to county supervisors for final approval.
The new arrangement puts Democratic Supervisors Lu Barron and Linda Langston in the same district.
