CEDAR RAPIDS - One man was run over by a pickup and another man was hit with a baseball bat during an an altercation in a church parking lot early Saturday morning, authorities said.
Linn County deputies responded around 12:54 a.m. to the parking lot of Jehovah's Witnesses church, 7121 Mount Vernon Road. Three men reported that they were walking east along the road from The Rut Bar and Grill back to a mobile home court nearby when they got into an argument with a man in a pickup.
Col. John Stuelke, chief deputy sheriff, said one man was hit in the head with a baseball bat or a similar hard object. Another man had his legs run over by the vehicle, he said.
Neither man's injuries were considered life-threatening, authorities said. Stuelke said they were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Stuelke said details were still vague, but the men claimed they did not know the pickup driver. No description of the suspect or the pickup was in the initial incident report.
An investigation was continuing.
