One person killed in Linn County crash

CEDAR RAPIDS - The Linn County Sheriff's Office confirms that one person is dead following a one vehicle accident that happened along the 4700 block of Old River Road in Linn County.
The car lost control coming around a curve, ending up in a ditch and striking a tree.
The sheriff's office says two people were in the car, including the male driver, who did not survive the crash.
The passenger, 32-year-old Dannelle Fite of Cedar Rapids, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids and then transferred to the University Hospitals in Iowa City. Her condition is still unknown.
Sheriff's deputies, along with Cedar Rapids Police and Fire Departments, were at the scene for several hours.
Investigators say the car was in the ditch for several hours before someone alerted emergency workers to the accident.
The identity of the driver is being withheld by police pending notification of next of kin.
