The Eastern Iowa Brass Band will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special concert on Sunday, Aug. 7 in Solon. The concert will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in the social hall at 3pm. The band will be playing members' favorite pieces from years past, conducted by Mr. Joshua Thompson. Band alumni will be special guests at the event and are encouraged to contact a band member or send an email to alumni@easterniowabrassband.com if they plan to attend. The concert is free and open to the public.
The band was founded in 1986 by Don Stine, after attending a clinic on the brass band movement in America. The band attended its first North American Brass Band Association championships in April of that year, placing second in its class. The EIBB is a British-style brass band, the only one of its kind in Iowa.
