The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library will again be on the move - this time going up.
The building was moved last month from its site along the Cedar River, about 480 feet to its new location.
Movers beginning Saturday will begin the elevation process to lift the museum 12 feet high, said museum spokeswoman Diana Baculis.
Hydraulic jacks and cribbing will be used in the process.
Baculis said the goal is to work five days straight to elevate the building high enough to set on its new foundation, on top of a parking garage.
The move was precipitated by the June 2008 flood that swamped the building with 8 feet of water.
The National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library is seen on Friday, July 1, 2011. The museum is slowly being raised to the height of the cement platform, where it will eventually permanently rest. (David Scrivner/The Gazette)
