From PCI:
Physicians' Clinic of Iowa Medical Pavilion is the name selected for the $47 million private multispecialty medical mall set to be built on Second Avenue near downtown Cedar Rapids.
The name announcement comes as PCI prepares to break ground on the new facility May 19.
The Physicians' Clinic of Iowa Medical Pavilion, at 202 10th St. SE next to I-380 in Cedar Rapids' proposed medical district, will be a single-stop specialty care destination – a state-of-the-art ambulatory care facility that brings coordinated services together under one roof and creates an environment for collaboration that delivers better care and faster service.
“Building better health care means building everything around the patient,” said Physicians' Clinic of Iowa CEO Mike Sundall. “The new Physicians' Clinic of Iowa Medical Pavilion will deliver quality, convenient, coordinated and affordable specialty care; it's a new model for Iowa that improves patient satisfaction without increased cost.”
The Physicians' Clinic of Iowa Medical Pavilion is the first private, for-profit investment in downtown Cedar Rapids since the flood of 2008.
“Physicians' Clinic of Iowa is making this investment in support of the high-quality, affordable medical and surgical care patients deserve,” said Sundall. “We're pleased to be helping revitalize downtown and look forward to announcing pharmacy, café and other tenants very soon.”
PCI also announced the following:
Iowa Blood & Cancer Care of PCI has announced a name change as of April 2011. The practice, which joined Physicians' Clinic of Iowa in 2009, will now be known as Physicians' Clinic of Iowa-Hematology & Oncology. Unchanged, are the physicians, staff and quality care that the group has provided since founded in 2002.
Located at 855 A Avenue in Cedar Rapids, the practice has a diverse array of expertise in oncology and hematology. The physician and nurse team provide compassionate and comprehensive programs for patients with cancer and disorders of the blood.
Built upon the core purpose of bringing hope to patients' lives and improving their overall well-being, the care team works closely with patients and their families to maintain a better quality of life after diagnosis. The team manages care through comprehensive prevention, detection and treatment services including clinical trials and supportive care.
This patient-first ethic is exemplified through the Balance™ patient education and support system. The whole-patient approach provides a wide variety of support resources that are available including everything from information on treatment plans and potential side effects to integrative therapies such as massage and nutrition counseling.
In addition, the group recently became the first oncology practice in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor, and the third in the State of Iowa, to be recognized by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program, an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
