Barbour to visit Linn, Johnson counties

Gov. Haley Barbour will be back in Iowa next week with appearances planned in Cedar Rapids and Tiffin.

Barbour is one of several Republicans who weighing a bid for the party’s 2012 presidential nomination.

He’s scheduled to speak to Linn County Republican Eagles at noon March 25 at the Cedar Rapids Country Club.

That evening, the Mississippian will speak at the Johnson County Republicans Annual Spaghetti Dinner. Barbour is schedule to arrive about 5:30 p.m. and speak at 6.

The dinner is from 5:30 to 7 p.m at Clear Creek-Amana High School, 551 W. Marengo Rd. (Hwy 6), Tiffin. It will include meatless and meat sauce, garlic bread, salad and desserts made by the Republican women. Serving will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Mike George with Strong America Now, a group advocating for a balanced federal budget and reduction of the federal deficit will speak.The keynote speaker will be Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz at 7 p.m.
