The Dresden Monarchs of the German Football League were stumbling around.
They were 2-6, and had been held to three points or less in three of their games.
But last Saturday the Monarchs turned to a new quarterback, Jake Christensen. The former Iowa Hawkeye completed 22 of 30 passes for 376 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, and the Monarchs edged the Braunschweig Lions, 28-27.
Every site I've found for news on this matter is in German, a language I don't speak or read. However, I was able to gather Christensen didn't join the team until early this month.Christensen played at Iowa his first three seasons, then transferred to Eastern Illinois, where he was the starting quarterback for a team that made the NCAA's FCS playoffs.
