The Cedar Rapids have made a pair of roster moves, with pitcher Matt Shoemaker being sent to extended spring training, pitcher Chris Armstrong activated from the temporarily inactive list and infielder Jon Townsend sent to the disabled list.
Joining the team from extended spring is infielder Michael Wing. The 20-year-old from Upland, Calif., was a 26th-round draft pick of the parent Los Angeles Angels in the 2007 amateur draft. He hit .267 with two home runs and 22 RBIs in 34 games last season for the Arizona Rookie League Angels.
Shoemaker went 1-0 with a 6.57 earned run average in seven relief apperances for Cedar Rapids. Armstrong (1-0, 2.40) has returned to the team after missing a week for the birth of his son.
Townsend is hitting .182 in 18 games. He has a right foot sprain.
