Mount Vernon Hires New Superintendent

The Mount Vernon school board selected Pam Ewell as superintendent of of schools for the Mount Vernon Community School District.
Ewell is currently principal at Grinnell-Newburg Middle School in Grinnell. She replaces Jeff Schwiebert, who will serve as superintendent of the North Scott Community School District next year.
Board members call Ewell is the best fit for the district's needs.
"We need assistance in curriculum and staff development, and that is a strength of Dr. Ewell with her work on the Iowa Professional Development Model," said Tom Wieseler, school board president.
Ewell begins July 1.
