The voters haven’t budged. The order hasn’t changed.

Cedar Rapids Xavier and Pella remain deadlocked atop Class 3A in the latest Gazette football rankings, with Norwalk a whisker behind.

Xavier and Pella received 52 points, Norwalk 51. That’s identical to last week.

All three of the contenders are unbeaten, but that will change Friday, when Pella hosts Norwalk in a 3A District 6 showdown.

Pella is a two-time defending state champion and has won 34 consecutive games.

The top teams remain the same throughout the rankings, with West Des Moines Valley (4A), North Fayette Valley (2A) and Iowa City Regina (1A) unanimous No. 1s.

Valley is followed by West Des Moines Dowling. Ankeny Centennial and Lewis Central moved to third and fourth after Cedar Rapids Washington was upset, 27-21, last week by Cedar Falls. The Warriors slipped to No. 5.

Creston/Orient-Macksburg and Carroll remain fourth and fifth in 3A. Clear Creek Amana jumped three spots to No. 6 after defeating West Delaware, 30-14, last week.

Union stays at No. 2 in Class 2A, and plays at No. 5 Waukon this week, then at North Fayette Valley in Week 8.

Pella Christian is second in 1A, followed by a tightly bunched pack that consists of Van Meter, Denver, Madrid and Western Christian.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck remains No. 1 in Class A, with Saint Ansgar and Algona Garrigan sharing the second spot.

Audubon leads the field in 8-Player, followed by Fremont-Mills, Lone Tree and Turkey Valley.
