Jarrod Uthoff, Georges Niang among Malone finalists
INDIANAPOLIS — Iowa senior Jarrod Uthoff and Iowa State senior Georges Niang were named among the five finalists for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year.
Uthoff, a 6-foot-9 Cedar Rapids Jefferson graduate, averages 18.8 points (second in Big Ten), 2.7 blocks (first) and 6.5 rebounds (tied for 10th).
The 6-9 Niang, who hails from Methuen, Mass., put up 19.4 points and grabbed 6.2 rebounds a game. He's the only player nationally averaging at least 19 points and six rebounds.
The other finalists include Kansas' Perry Ellis, North Carolina's Brice Johnson and Stony Brook's Jameel Warney.
