It was totally fantastic to fire up the #oniowapod machine once again.

Former Gazette sportswriter Scott Dochterman, now of The Athletic, joined me for an old school On Iowa podcast. We were in the studio and everything. We could have an actual conversation.

We talked about history and Trump ...

Kidding, we talked about what you guys want to hear. It’s like an hour and a half of Hawkeye. I wasn’t ready to talk basketball (big surprise, right?), but Scott had that for the one basketball question we got.

This one was mostly football. I can grok that.

We also talked about Scott’s odyssey going from the close of Land of Ten to The Athletic, which doesn’t bait clicks but writes anything from long form to fun columns. It’s beat work. That doesn’t sound sexy, but, if I know Scott, you’re going to love it.

We plan to do one every Friday for the rest of the summer. There will be some skipped weeks with vacations, but that’s what we’re shooting for.

Hope you enjoy and thanks for listening. I had a blast.
