CEDAR FALLS — Senior forward Jeremy Morgan of the Northern Iowa Panthers has been selected to the All-Missouri Valley Conference second team, the league announced Tuesday.
Morgan, an Iowa City West graduate, leads UNI in scoring at 14.7 points per game. That ranks fifth in the Valley.
He is ninth in rebounding (5.9 per game), second in steals, ninth in free-throw percentage and third in minutes played. Morgan also was one of six players named to the league’s All-Defensive Team.
Red-shirt freshman guard Spencer Haldeman of UNI was one of six players selected for the MVC’s All-Freshman Team. The Western Dubuque grad averages 7.5 points per game.
The Valley’s first team consists of Loyola senior guard Milton Doyle, Missouri State junior forward Alize Johnson, Illinois State senior guard Paris Lee, Wichita State sophomore forward Markis McDuffie and Wichita State freshman guard Landry Shamet. Lee earned the Larry Bird Award, as MVC Player of the Year.
The second team is Evansville senior guard Jaylon Brown, Illinois State senior forward Deontae Hawkins, Illinois State junior forward MiKyle McIntosh, Morgan and Southern Illinois senior forward Sean O’Brien.
On the third team are Wichita State junior guard Conner Frankamp, Loyola junior swingman Donte Ingram, Wichita State junior center Shaquille Morris, Indiana State junior guard Brenton Scott and Drake junior guard Reed Timmer.
Johnson, Shamet, Illinois State sophomore guard Phil Fayne, Loyola junior forward Aundre Jackson and Wichita State junior forward Darral Willis Jr. are on the All-Newcomer Team. With Haldeman and Shamet on the All-Freshman Team are Bradley center Koch Bar, Indiana State guard Jordan Barnes, Bradley guard Darrell Brown Jr. and Evansville guard Dru Smith.
