Ready to serve all of the people

I am running for mayor so I can serve the entire community.

I have served this community in a variety of ways over the last 25+ years, including chairing the Chamber of Commerce immediately after the 2008 flood and fighting for flood recovery assistance in Des Moines and in Washington, D.C. I have also chaired the boards of Alternative Services, Horizons, Young Parents Network and United Way of East Central Iowa.

I firmly believe my professional background as an analytical problem solver for large and small businesses in a variety of industries, my leadership skills developed by leading almost a dozen local non-profits and causes, and my broad knowledge of, and deep love for, this community make me uniquely qualified to help lead Cedar Rapids in the years to come.

We will work to fix our streets, to retain and recruit high paying quality jobs, to fight violent crime and strengthen neighborhoods, to provide appropriate housing options for everyone in Cedar Rapids and to provide flood protection to protect investments made and encourage new investment. We can move development beyond downtown and Newbo so all of Cedar Rapids benefits from new investment.

We will also work hard to have Cedar Rapids viewed and treated as the second largest city in Iowa, so we’ll always get “our fair share.”

I promise to give it my all. I believe our future is very bright when we all work together.
