Washington County Jail inmate found dead

34-year-old will undergo autopsy Monday

WASHINGTON COUNTY — A Washington County Jail inmate was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead Friday, according to the sheriff’s office.

Late Thursday night, jail staff conducted CPR on an unresponsive Everette William Christner, 34, of North English, until paramedics arrived. The county medical examiner pronounced him dead shortly after, according to a news release.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

The case is being investigated by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
