No injuries reported after anhydrous ammonia tank leak near Independence

No injuries were reported after the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office responded to an anhydrous ammonia tank leak southeast of Independence Monday.
According to a media release from the sheriff's office, the department received a 911 call at roughly 3 p.m. about an anhydrous tank leak in the 2400 blk Quasqueton Diagonal Blvd near Independence.
In response, emergency responders closed down the road and isolated the area. Responders on scene reported that it appeared the valve on the tank had failed, leading to the leak, according to the release. The area was expected to be cleared to normal traffic after the problem was resolved, according to the release.
Firefighters were on the scene not long after the call and no injuries were reported, according to the release.
In total, Buchanan County Sheriff's Deputies, Independence Fire Department, Quasqueton Fire Department and Buchanan County Emergency Management responded to the scene, according to the release.
